4EC showed off their learning from yesterday as we trundled down Deptford Creek today… We had fun finding lots of artefacts and animals in the tributary of the River Thames and learnt what they told us about the environment around the river now and in the past.

Mudlarking
We are very excited about our forthcoming trip to Deptford Creek on Friday. Thank you to all the parents that said they would help out… So many that I’ve had to do names out of a hat!
The parents of
Luca, Zedan, Jasper, Katla, and Lola
Were pulled out. If any of you can’t make it please let me know ASAP so I can let someone else go.
If any are available on Thursday 16th to see the new section of the Tate before it opens to the public please let me know.
Can you spot the error?
We have been learning about food chains in 4EC. We went to our forest school to look for insects that would be part of a food chain then we researched what they ate and who ate them. To help us present our learning we used the popplet app.
There is a mistake in this one… Can you spot it?
Inspired by nature… Exploring habitats
We spent the morning exploring the natural habitat in our school. First we thought about the types of habitats that we have in our natural space then we went off searching for living things (in particular, animals).
We found lots of slugs, snails and wood lice under various logs. When a group aproached the pond, they excitedly found frogspawn.
After, we worked in teams to create a civilisation for the insects that we had found.
Perseverance was shown when they came up with challenges to make shelters stand up.
By exploring we found out more about the plants in this area and wondered if they were are crop what the different parts could be used for.
The inside of the crops stems were soft foam like interior. We questioned what it could be used for? Have you got any ideas?
When Where What?
After the success of our assembly we are now remembering that we had an exciting trip to the Maritime Museum and learnt about the Vikings. Today we want to find out more!
There are lots of ways we can learn about history… by going to Museums, reading books and searching the internet.
Today we want to find out When the Vikings lived, where they came from and what they were famous for. These web links might help us answer these questions.

We had another trio this week to the Dulwich Picture gallery to learn how to allude with just drawing and see the amazing work of Escher.
We ended the week practising for our class assembly which is on Tuesday. We have made some of the props but it would be great to have some large white shirts for 9 members of the class. If you think you can help it would be fantastic.
Our assembly will be at 9.30 on Tuesday. Hope to see you there.

Traders and raiders
At the Maritime museum yesterday who the Vikings were… How they sailed the oceans raiding and trading.
Do you recognise all these things? If you are a member of 4EC can you teach someone else about the things Vikings use to trade?
We also found out about other people in history that have sailed our oceans.
Finally, two members of our class dressed up as Vikings.
